Upgradaion: you have old version of the system and now you want to upgrade it to the higher version or to the latest version
F.ex: Upgrading Oracle DB from 8.1.6. to 9.0.1
Migration: You are changing to a diffrent vendor..
F.ex: Migrating from DB2 to Oracle
Oracle calls Migration the process of transforming DB to newer version, e.g. 7->8, 8->9.Quote:

You have to be careful with his type of migration especially if you've just upgraded it can cause servere problems and in many cases a loss of 'functionality' for a couple of weeks :D :DQuote:
