I am on Oracle 8.1.6.0.0, Is it requied to run catdbsyn.sql for newly created database.

Hi

The catdbsyn.sql script file for 8.x was no longer needed to create synonyms for DBA views because public synonyms for those views are already created when you run catalog.sql.

and the views are accessible if you have select any table
privilege.
