I contacted Prometric to reschedule my exam (which is a good thing I did) and found out that all Oracle exams (for 8i) must be completed within a calendar year. Is this true?!? I cannot find any information about this on Prometic's or Oracle's website.
Since this is my first Oracle exam and I don't plan on finishing all the exams in 2001 I was had to reschedule for 2002.

You have at least one year from the time you registered your exam to the next. There must have been a miscmmunicationi - there is talk about 8i retirement in 2003.
Oracle 8 is being retired March 30th, 2002. In either case...your certification will still be ok...

When you registered and paid your Oracle exam with Prometric, you have up to one year to reschedule and write the exam. After one year, they will take your exam fee without notice.

No...not at all. You just have to finish your exams before they retire. I am in full contact with Oracle University and according to them. What Prometric is meaning is that if you are REGISTERED to write AN EXAM say (SQL or Data Admin it doesn't matter) in the year 2000 (lets say April) then you would have to write this exam by the latest APril 2001. That's all!!! You can now go ahead and finish the rest of your exams at any time provided they haven't been retired.
-
Here too is another example: If you registered to write all your exam with Prometric in April 2000, then yes you would have to write all those exams by April 2001. So you're wise not to register until you're sure you know that you're prepared to write those exams. You have more than one calender year to get through a track but if they retire like its going to be for Oracle 8. Then you might have less than a year to write all your exams.

Here are the official words from Oracle regarding the time requirement to complete an OCP track:
=========
Time Considerations for Completing Your Certification
Candidates are NOT required to pass all the exams required within the Oracle Certification track they are pursuing within a set time. However, candidates must wait 30 days before retaking an exam. There are no exceptions to this restriction.
When an Oracle Certification track retires, candidates pursuing the track are given at least 6 months from the Retirement Announcement to complete the exams required. At this time there are plans to retire only the Oracle8 exams on March 31, 2002. Click here for all the details regarding the Oracle Certification Oracle8 Retirement.
