Backup & Recovery

Hi,
I'm a Student and still an OracleRookie.
At the moment my work is to find out more about the Oracle Backup & Recovery Strategies.
If any of you have experience (Oracle Backup & Recovery -> Legato NetWorker -> DataWarehouse) and would like to share it with me, I would be pleased.
Especially I would like to know more about the common mistakes a DAB can make.

This is a very broad question. The awnser depends on:

1. What sort of availability do you need?
2. What are thre resources available?
3. Can you use RMAN?

See the Backup & recovery guide which comes along with Oracle. You have to read it before you can start asking specific questions.

- Sun Solaris 2.6
- Oracle 8.1.5
- RMAN available (should be used in conjunction with Legato NetWorker)
- huge DB (DataWarehouse)

The whole System should be available 24h per day...
I have any ressources needed :-)
