    RAC Instance recovery using Past Image

    Hi,

    How recovery will take place if the instance/node having the latest Past Image(PI) of the blocks got crashed?

    Past Image is used by that instance to make faster instance recovery when other nodes which hold later version dies.

    If the instance holding the PI is dead then it does not matter it will be able to recover using redo logs.

    May I know using which information in redo log, Oracle will start to recover
    the datafiles?
