    Hi, 27th April 2001 20:24 hrs chennai

Can any body tell what will be the reason for this problem.

When is start up my system win2000 oracle 8.1.6 in was unable to log in to oracle.

I found out from the services that oracle service status as STRTING so i went to svrmgrl and issued the STARTUP FORCE.

Now i am able to login in to oracle sqlplus.

But now if i start the OEM Management server i get a error the service was not started in a timely fashion.

I am also unable to view the stop or start in the oracle service .I have also restarted and tried the same.

    Cheers

I guess the best bet is remove the services using oradim and reccreate the services if you could afford to have some downtime during which you can ask users to stop working...

    solution

    Hi, 28th May 2001 18:34 hrs chennai

I solved the problem on the test machine by clearly reinstalling the o/s and then oracle.

I think the problem is with o/s win2000.

I tried removing the services and adding new service twice then also no use.It says service unable to started in timely fashion.

Oracle on NT one another system is without any problem for long time.

Since the CD is for oracle on win NT.

May be the o/s will stabilise in near future.

    Cheers

    Cool solution

    Hi, 25th Aug 2001 18:54 hrs chennai

I found one more solution for Oracle 8.1.6 on Win2000 env

oracle service STARTING status due to which unable to be connected to oracle.

1)Make the existing oracle service marked as MANUAL from AUTOMATIC

2)Go to ORADIM utility DELETE the existing Oracle service .

    3)Reboot the system

4)Create a New Service as in the same name as Previous one

    5)REBOOT the system

This work fine for over a period of time.

If you still have problem go to SVRMGRL issue STARTUP or STARTUP FORCE.

Note:This is a Not a Permanent Solution Regular Patch updates for o/s and DB is a Must.

    Cheers
