When doing a select count(*) from table name what causes ##### to be returned?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

perhaps you should format the column
    example:
    - col column_name format axx

    Thanks Valentin,

but I did that and that does work but if I'm in as system, I shouldn't have to format
the column to run a simple select count(*).
Seems to me that something has changed in environment.

Are you doing this select from SQL*Plus? What is your NUMWIDTH setting in SQL*Plus? To determine this, do a "SHOW NUMWIDTH". If it is to low, set it to a higher value (eg "SET NUMWIDTH 10").

    Jmodic is right.
    First set numwidth 10
    and then perform the query.
    You will not see hashes

    Thank you for the replies.
Yes, I was using SQLPlus. I ended up using format
in the login.sql and my query now works.
