    Hi,
The log_simultaneous_copies inistialization parameter has to be set a twice the number of cpu's. I have a 2 cpu windows NT server with oracle 8.0.5 installed. I am not sure of how many cpus are available to oracle.

Can I still go ahead and set this parameter accordingly or I have to first make sure if both the cpu's are available to oracle or not. I dont know how to do this.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks
    Anurag

Thanks a lot. I found it. It is set to 2 and my log_simultaneous_copies is also set to 2.

Also if i run some scripts i shows me that there is a heavy contention for redo copy latch.

Can i just go ahead and increase the values of log_simultaneous_copies to 4 from 2.

Also is there any way of specifying that out of the 2 cpu's on my server i want oracle to use only 1. I dont think it can be changed in init.ora file as cpu_count is a derived parameter.

    Thanks
    Anurag.
