Restore Oracle from mdb
I have to restore from a mdb file an Oracle 10g database and I am trying to use Database Express but cannot fond out how I should do this.
Please make suggestions.
-
whats Database express and what exactly are you trying to do?
-
A ?feature? that came with Oracle 10g and as I said I am trying to restore an existing database from a mdb file.
-
I think that the tool I am attempting to use is also called APEX.
-
and what are you doing in apex?
-
Just to be sure... please tell us your "mdb" file is not a SQL Server datafile.

If you mean by that a Microsoft mssql datafile, yes I am sure that it is a backup of an Oracle database and not a Microsoft mssql datafile.
Please tell me what tool/software you would use to do this restore.
BTW Surely your signature should read "Your lack of planning does NOT constitute an emergency to me"?

so what is this mdb file and where did it come from
-
It is a backup of my users Oracle database in Microsoft Access format.
It was created by my user.

So it wasn't SQL Server, it was MS-Access!!!
Unfortunately you cannot restore an Oracle database from an MS-Access database.
What's the current status of your Oracle database?
- Does it exists?
- Is it open?
- Do you have Oracle backups?
Could you please be more specific about what you mean with "restore"?
