can these be done on standby database?

    Hi,

Can these be done on standby database? I'm trying to activate standby database and at the same time I want to put into noarchivelog mode. I'm on oracle 9i.

    connect / as sysdba
    startup nomount
    alter database mount standby database
    alter database noarchivelog
    alter database activate standby database

    Thanks.

    Hi

Why you want to put the standby database in noarchivelog mode ?

I want to open standby database. This is temporary standby DB and use for reporting DB every month. I don't want it to run under archive mode after I activate it. And I don't want to shutdown after activate it if possible. I'm running everything under shell script in one go.

    Hi,

I know I can open as read only. But i need to write to certain table as well. So I need to open it. Plus I have another standby DB in case of disaster. This second standby DB is just use to start our report creation as early as possible, preferably after end of month process.

At the moment I don't have space to re-create my standby DB to test all the commands again. I was wondering anybody ever try these commands. Will it work or not? I don't know.
