    ORACLE 10G R1 TEMP problems

    Hi to all
    I have this problem: backup operation (maked with exp command) increase the temp01.dbf datafile up to 30/40 Gb with tablespace TEMP full at 99.99% for each istance (10) !!
    Someone can help me ? I have maked a new datafile temp and I have dropped the big old one but after backup operation the result is the same....

    well dont use exp as a backup method as it isnt one

    what are your pga settings and the exp command you are using

    exp system full=y file=/oracle/TTT.dmp log=/oracle_log/log/TTT_$DATA.log

    pga_aggregate_target=25165824

    thats only 25Mb pga - increase that a lot

    sorry thist is the correct parameter:
    (KB) 84245
    PS: you suppose that PGA problems cause very big temp files?

    pga controls the area you use for sorting and hashing, if there isnt enough space in memory it will write to temp.

    A single session can I belive only use 5% of the pga - so you are stuck at 4mb

    try increasing it a lot and see what happens

    PGA increased

    Hi
    I have increased the PGA up to 200 Mb but the reslt is the same:
    I have 1 Gb temp file full (99,99%) after exp operation;
    Is an exp problem ? can I test the the result using data pump

    you had 30/ 40gb now you have 1gb

    problem solved surely?

    I have dropped old temp file e the new one is fixed to 1 Gb (cannot increase) if I set it in autoextend I think to have a full file system i 3 or 4 day....

    you said AFTER the exp operation you have a 1gb temp file - so whats the problem? why do you think it will increase
