    Hey Guys,

I have installed Oracle 8.0.5 on Windows NT. But I am not able to connect SYS or SYSTEM as SYSDBA. I am able to connect SYS or SYSTEM as a Normal user through OEM. Pl guide me how to connect SYS as SYSDBA.

First create a passwordfile with ORAPWD utility. The password you assign here will be new password for internal and sys users for SYSDBA connection.

    c:\> ORAPWD file=______ PASSWORD=ADMIN ENTRIES =5

Next set REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to EXCLUSIVE in the init file.

    Shutdown and restart the database.

Keep your Server manager running when using the ORAPWD utility.

Add other users to the SYSDBA list by issuing GRANT comands.

    Nizar
