    Statistics

    Hi,

    I'm confused with the ANALYZE database objects,schema & database concepts,Can anyone clear my doubts in layman terms,

    1) What does the statistics mean here,what are the details will be gathered by it?

    2) What is the difference between COMPUTE & ESTIMATE statistics?

    3) How the statistics collected is helpful in improving database performance?

    You need to read performance tuning manual, all the info is there - stats and the cost based optimizer are core to the way oracle operates
