couple questions on 10g and 9i compatibilty.

Our organization is building a new Oracle server. We have to transfer data from a server at another organization. Their servers are running 10g. My question is: Can you export from 10g to 9i? Are should the organization upgrade to 10g? I am personnally pushing for the upgrade to 10g. I am just starting out in Oracle and will be taking the classes from Oracle shortly. Looking forward to getting my feet wet.

Thanks for any replys in advance.

If this is a new project, why NOT install 10g? It will make your life so much simpler.

That is what I am thinking. Another DBA here is using 9i, and I think he wants to stick with what he knows. Since I am learning from scratch why not go to 10g! If we have to go to 9i, do you know if there are compatibility issues?

    Thanks,
