    Shocking news!!

This falls firmly into the NO DUH! catagory!!

    http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/07/12/cel...ers/index.html

I wonder how long it will take before they are completely banned from use while driving? Maybe we should put up a pole guessing the number of fatalities it will take?

Which moron would call while driving! Just use a head set or something! These things are dirt cheap.

This article states (and I agree) that even with the headsets drivers are distracted.

Using mobile phones while driving is illegal in the UK. You are allowed to use hands-free, but only if your handsfree kit requires no button presses, ie. it's voice activated.

I agree that even with handsfree it's dangerous, but we seem to turn a blind eye to people messing with their radios, playing loud music, smoking, turning round to face the person in the passenger seat while talking etc. It's not the only thing people do in cars that is distracting.

    Cheers

I think there's a different level of distraction involved in those things, dangerous as they are ... talking over the phone always seems to make my brain a bit (more than usual) distant from what's going on around me, more so than having a conversation with a person also in a car. Doubtless there's some psychological explanation for this.

I was once passed on the highway by a woman doing 80 and her mascara at the same time!

Needless to say it's not too smart to talk on your cell while doing 130mph on the autobahn let alone mess with the radio.
    Oracle it's not just a database it's a lifestyle!
