10gR2
Has anybody heard when 10gR2 is supposed to be shipping? I have some developers clamoring for 10g and I don't want to install 10gR1 if 10gR2 is coming out in a few weeks...

I have a solution for you, it's an old one, can you guess what it is?
We have 10.1.0.2 here.

Good for you wiseguy. We have 10.1.0.3. Do you know when 10.2.something.something is coming out?

not sure where I saw it but I think the release date is after summer or so!
-
Last I read was the end of June, although there was a possibility it might be delayed till the end of the next quarter

Just curious, does this mean the end of release 1 is 10.1.0.3?
why so short why dont they rech it to at least 10.1.0.9
what will be their basis or sop in ending the patch of a certain
release?

no cos there is already a 10.1.0.4 out.
There will still be patch sets released for a while yet.
Patch sets are still being released for 9.2 as well (9.2.0.7 will be out shortly)

geee thanks davey
im confused again why is jeff waiting for release 2? I just thot
10.1.0.9 is more stable than 10.2.0.1 coz the latter is a fresh
release. what jah think?

but all the bugs found already in 10.1 will be fixed in 10.2 and will generally be more stable (compare 9.0 to 9.2) and you get new features as well
-
but these new features are the ones creating new bugs, so i still
believe the higher the patch release number is the more stable the product
