Install oracle9i and oracle8i on the same box.
DBAs,
I have to install 8i and 9i on the same unix box running on aix 5.2.
Does the installation order matter?
I was told that I have to install oracle 8i first and then 9i.
The other order won't work.
This is true?
Thanks!

no its no true - any order you want
-
Thanks.
I doubted that too. But that is from a senior dba. So, I just want to
make it sure.

Well I just observed that each installer got different versions
of post-wait kernel(ps-wait) to be loaded. I dont know if
each one works similar

I am trying to install oracle 9i in aix 52.
got the following error in the begining:
$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2005-05-11_11-28-26AM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
stackpointer=2ff20f60
Writing Java core file ....
Written Java core to /tmp/javacore401516.1115828962.txt
/tmp/OraInstall2005-05-11_11-28-26AM/installer: 401516 Segmentation fault(coredump)

I have 9i and 10G running on the same machine but not on AIX, it's on Linux. please be sure that you have env for each of the version. Other than that, it should work just fine
