send mail option
Hi all,
is it possible for Oracle UTL_SMTP send funtion to send mail to MORE THAN ONE mail servers??? Another word, I need to be able to have two or more IPAdDress for the mail server.
If possible, could you please give me some instructions?????

you cant specify more than one server AFAIK, but in 10g u can using utl_mail package alongwith the server "smtp_out_server" attribute.
"smtp_out_server specifies the SMTP host and port to which utl_mail delivers outbound E-mail. Multiple servers may be specified, separated by commas. If the first server in the list is unavailable, then utl_mail tries the second server, and so on."

Just curious, Are you talking about an alias IP or a 2nd NIC in the mail server?

Sorry for not answering your question, but I just want to clarify one more thing... do you want to send the email to multiple servers for purposes of load balancing? 5 to server a, 5 to server b, etc.
Some email servers have the capacity to forward emails to another server to be sent when they're too busy (ex. Exchange 2003).
