    Don't manually delete archive logs. Isn't there an automated way to get rman to clean up the old archive logs? For example can you setup a special backup of the archive logs and have the job delete them once they are backed up? I thought I think remeber reading something about that, you may want to look it up.

    Yes Gandolph , that would be the best option but now since the logs are gone already I have no choice but wait.

    But this process seems to take like for ever.

    Are you / anyone else aware of decent checklist for implementing RMAN ? ( Well please dont post the URL tot he documentation . its exhaustive .. but would be nice ot have some maintenance , backup and test scripts .

    Which release?

    I've never had any problmes with "crosscheck archivelog all ", even when there have been deleted archived logs at OS level.

    Hi Friends,
    I am using this script to regularly clean up old archive logs.

    allocate channel for maintenance type disk;
    change archivelog until time 'sysdate-1' delete;
    change archivelog all crosscheck;
    release channel;

    Its working fine for me.

    regards

    In your weekly archivelog backup use

    backup ( archivelog all delete input );

    will delete once in week.

    Or Use the same in monthly backup.

    After taking the archivelog backup it will delete the archivelogs.

    when we add the delete input command.
    backup ( archivelog all delete input )

    we can schedule this backup for a weekly backup of the archivelog.

    Refer Rman doc for further details.
