How to limit users to run heavy queries?
Hi Falks,
What is the best way to limit users to run long and heavy queries?
I want ,for example ,that a session which runs a heavy CPU query will be terminated automatically after 2 minutes maximum.
database version : 10.1.0.2
OS : Sun Solaris
Thanks in advance,
Nir

create a profile, setting values for cpu_per_session\logical_reads_per_session (depending on what you want to limit your users on) and then assign the profile to the user you require.

USERS!!
Don't make me say it!
I remember when this place was cool.

Presumably your answer involves threats of (or actual) grievous bodily harm towards the users in question?

You could also help them to rewrite their queries.
Either that or you could give them a close up view
of MH's bowling ball.
