    Migrating Databases

    Hi ,

Th project is to migrate a large non-oracle dataabse to Oracle. Take data into delimited files from the source box then use sqlldr to load it into Oracle box. The data will be a large volume of about 800gb. As of now the plan is to mount a system on NSS so both boxes can view it so export from once database fall into and then this is used by sqlldr. Otherwise we need to spend time on pushing files from one place to another.
    Please guide on:
    1. What would be the relevent configuration for such task(Any methods)?
    2. If NSS or Snapdrive is the option will oracle performance be affected ?
    Kindly provide your expertise inputs.

    Thanks

Which non-oracle database are you refereing to ? Check if that database is listed under supported databases in Oracle Migration Work Bench. If yes then it can be directly migrated from your non-oracle database to oracle using the migration workbench.

I think you are on the right track.

Since the flat file is on NSS drive, SQLLDR will not find difficulty in reading the files while loading the data into Oracle DB.

Your performance depends upon the speed of disk/controllers.
