Wink Poll:Install RAC without inexpensive hardware

    Hi All,

    Let me introuce myself first...

I am Saurabh, working as Oracle Apps DBA and having 4+ exp in Core + Apps DBA.

Now what i want to tell you is .....

RAC,when u hear this,u would have thought that you need expensive hardware with shared disk systems and high speed hubs....

BUT NO NEED FOR THIS.....FOR TESTING AND GETTING TO KNOW THE CAPABILITY OF RAC.

I was able to install RAC on 1 machine with 2 instances with normal hardware, what home PC have using raw devices on 2.1 Linux.

Just want to know how many of you is interested to know this technolgy, depending on the response what i get on this thread, will then go ahead and start a series and show you what i did...

Remember this can be used for Education purposes only..

    Let me know guys now....

    Thanks
    Saurabh

You can use either vmware to setup two or more virtual servers, or two instances in a single PC (I think there is a note on Metalink about how to do it)

You can create the document in How to Section of Oracle Forums and the people who need will be able to access it from there.

    Thanks,

Rac is just another ploy from Oracle to get more money from you. Here's a great article, read it and absorb it.
