    Cannot start OID after applying the 9.2.0.5 patch

    Hello,

    The database is originally in version 9.2.0.1.0
    and everything works fine.
    But after i have installed the patch
    and run the post-installation steps
    stated in Oracle9i Database Server Patch Set Notes,
    error occurs.

    I have succesfully run the /rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
    However, when i run the oidpatchca.sh,
    the oid server could not be contacted.

    Here is the screen dump:

    ===============================
    Executing oidpatch.sql...
    Done...
    Starting OID Server
    Non-SSL Port: 4032
    SSL Port: 4031
    Could not contact OID server.
    ================================

    I viewed the oidmon.log, and i found
    there is error in it, the oid server can't be
    started:
    ================================
    Updating Process Table...
    [gsldaa_AddEntry]ORA-6550 while adding entry cn=instance3,cn=osdldapd,cn=subregistrysubentry.Error = ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:

    i have run the command "relink all"
    after /rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql is finished,
    But the error still occurs.

    I have a novel solution for you. Go find out your CSI# from your company and set yourself up a Metalink account.

    Actually the support contract of my company 's oracle database is expired, so i try to find help in some forums.
    Could u tell me what's wrong about the patching step without posting
    metalink's article?

    Rick,
    I appreciate your honesty and sharing with us the actual reason why you do not have Metalink support. Unlike so many other users here who simply expect and demand help even after they say they can't get Metalink without a reason.

    Here is your fix. I would suggest you talk to your management to get your support back. As you can see you can't do your job without it.

    Cause ~~~~~~ Most likely causes are that the Oracle Internet Directory (OID) server was not shutdown cleanly prior to the patchset installation or the incorrect SYS password was supplied.
    Fix ~~~~ The syntax of the oidpatchca command has changed between the 9.0.2.2 patch to the 9.0.2.3 patchset. The -systempwd and -odspwd switches are no longer used. Instead the -syspwd switch is required with a valid SYS password. The following command can be used to run the command manually: ./oidpatchca.sh -connect -lsnrport 1521 -syspwd -sudn "cn=orcladmin" -supwd -dippwd When this succeeds, the patch has been completely applied.
    Oracle it's not just a database it's a lifestyle!
