    admin directory

    Hi,

This system has a oracle directory but I am not able to find the admin and udump/bdump directories. Could someone tell why they are not existing? I searched for udump but didn't find it.

/GN/opt/oracle has the following (but not the admin)

JRE doc jdbc jsp lib64 ocommon ord owm rdbms slax
assistants install jlib ldap lost+found oraInventory otrace plsql relnotes sqlplus
bin javavm jre lib network oracore oui precomp root.sh xdk

    Hi,

I can't see the dbs directory or init.ora.

I don't even know if sqlplus has a username setup

Of course sqlplus doesn't have a username setup, that wouldn't make sense. Sounds like you've got some real understanding issues...

I mean I can't login sqlplus (because I don't have username) and therefore I cant check v$parameter table. Could you tell how I can see the init.ora file? The directory structure doesn't seem to be setup correctly

So what's the big dilemma? Nothing's obviously running.

Why can't I see the admin, udump etc .. directories?
Also, init.ora. How can these be setup?

do you actually have a database created on your sever, i am guessing not

you really need to read the docs

startup dbca and create a database, all those things you need will be created for you
