Listener protecting password

Listener protecting with password in Windows 2000--

just adding a line password_listener =<>

1 is the above line enough for simple maintainance?
2 how to stop listener ..?

any other considerations has to be taken on this.?

why not use "lsnrctl change_password" instead??

wouldn't it be "lsnrctl stop" ??
or go to the services and stop the service oracleorahometnslistener.

how to stop listener that is protected with password..
since it is not asking password at the time of stopping from the same server..

Haven't Oracle in front of me to check to this, but if I remember right:

Oracle> lsnrctl
LSNRCTL> set password whatever
LSNRCTL> stop
