    Tuning switching redo log

    Hi Guys,

    From server,

Time diff in minutes of each redo switch, total redo file is 3

    11.62 8.37 7.88 7.53 8.45 8.48

Too short time for redo switch. What is the cause? In Oracle 9.2 what activity can generate too much redo? Using Veritas for backup!!

ummm you code is what generates redo, tune it so you generate less

or make your logs bigger, so you switch less

    hi,

tune ur application (by applying commit and rollback wherever required) so that the redo generation/switching will be less and u can increase the size of the redo logfile so that the switching will not occur frequently.

Commiting more (or less) frequently has no impact on the amount of redo generated. Obviously you are confusing redo logs with rollback/undo segments....
