    Hi All!

I read, some where only logical backup check the corruption (I guess they meant block corruption). One will realize block corruption for hot/cold backups only when one try to recover DB from that backups. It mean I have to recover my DB from last backup i.e. prior to corrupted backup and have to apply the archives for the most updated DB state.

I would like to know how can I check this cirruption at time of backing up my data by cold/hot backup procedure.

Is there any method that I could simulate the above test.

I appreciate your view in advance.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

marist89: You are doing logical backup. I want to know for non-logical(cold/hot) backup.

rcaballe: Do you have any idea about Oracle 8.0.x. You said 8i RMAN stop, does it gives any error specification with corrective steps.

    Regards,

You can use dbverify utility on hot/cold backup data files for block corruption.
