    Yes, you should be able to use a ODBC driver with Heterogenous services and call it from plsql. I doubt that you'd be able to run complex analytic functions etc though.

    hsodbc linux

    Ok.

    I can access data in MS access database from Oracle on Windows server using hsodbc.
    But it is not working when my database is on linux server.
    I have 9i database and Oracle says that it works with 10g database.

    Is it possible to access external database from Oracle 9i on linux using ODBC?

    I have installed unixODBC and MDBTools on my linux server and configure it.

    After that I have configured my inithsodbc.ora, listener.ora and tnsnames.ora.

    In my listener.ora file when I define my ODBC database connection on Win server, I have something like this:

    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=db1) (ORACLE_HOME=c:\oracle\ora92)
    (PROGRAM=hsodbc)
    )

    and it works fine. But, on linux server, I don't have hsodbc file(program) in my bin directory.
