What music is in your car cd player right now?

Yup, you all asked for it. Another (arguable the most) controversial Friday thread.

    I'll go first.

Jimmy Raney Jim Hall and Zoot Simms, Two Jim's and Zoot.
    The essential Charlie Parker.
    Lenny Tristano.
    Thelonious Monk.
Black Sabbath Never Say Die and Technical Ectstacy, I just bought the box set, love it, great stuff.

The ONLY reason I can guess that some moron paid that much for a guitar is that he is hoping (or betting) that Clapton is dying or will do so soon.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that it goes to charity but even if I had the cash there is no way in hell I'd pay that kinda scratch for ANYONE'S guitar.

This whole "collector" thing is nuts, pre-CBS strats going for OBSCENE amounts of money, and sadly most of them are in some museum in Japan somewhere and will never do what they are designed for, being played.

Few will argue that old guitars have something special though, I have played some that were just on a different level entirely. I recently played a pre-war Martin D-28 that was just sick, definately had that mojo that can not be put into words, and can not be duplicated by any new guitar.

Not 100% true - France Musique was playing Oscar Peterson as I drove home.

I know this is off the particular subject but speaking of Japan....
I was on a Rhein river tour (here in Germany) and I was told that a number of castles here that over look the river are being bought by Japanize business men, torn down, shipped back to Japan and rebuilt. That makes me so discusted taking history from country. The most sad part of it all is that the german govt is allowing it.

Not that I've noticed. But the French pronounce Artie Shaw the same way they do the word for artichoke!
