http failed during installation of 10g (9.0.4) infrastructure

    Hi

During the installation of the infrastructure of Oracle Application server (9.0.4) on Redhat Advanced server 3. One step fails: OPMN Configuration Assistant - start HTTP server failed.

In one of the logs, there are error stating SSO failed to start.

I have installed Oracle 9i on the same server but both installation are using different oracle home path.

What could cause this step to fail? How can the problem be corrected? Thanks!

A simple question with a simple answer...
Did you look on metalink yet? yes or no will suffice.

    Which log?

I've done 4 of these 10g Grid Control installs, I'll try to help if I can.

By the way, support is getting much better. If they start asking for an rda, forget it, it's code for "I don't have a clue".

Agreed, I've done a dozen or so 9.0.4 installs under Solaris and my experiences with support / Metalink have been abysmal thus far. They are improving but the breadth of 9.0.4 is such that it's difficult for Oracle to provide proper technical support.

    Unable to start OID

    Hi

After the installation of the Oracle 10g Infrastructure, I did a reboot on the server. Therefore i will need to start all the services manually. I have done the following :

    - start ias database
    - start listerner
    - oidmon start
    - opmnctl startall

However I did a ldapcheck and got the following:

    -------------------+--------------------+-------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    -------------------+--------------------+-------+---------
    OID | OID | N/A | Down
    OC4J | OC4J_SECURITY | 11643 | Alive
    HTTP_Server | HTTP_Server | 11625 | Alive
    dcm-daemon | dcm-daemon | 12496 | Alive
    LogLoader | logloaderd | 12732 | Alive

I did a grep for my oid process which stated that it has been started:

    oracle 11847 1 0 17:29 pts/0 00:00:01 /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/10g/904_j2ee/bin/oidmon opmnuid=1 start

How come I cant get the OID working? Please help. Thanks!
