Currently the Oracle database version 8.1.5 sits on a HP-UX server.

The number of session set for the database is 5000. However when they are about 120 sessions running, the database connection gets critical and becomes very slow. Any idea please?

I read in the documentation that you must start worrying when your cpu's are constantly over 90% usage.

Try to create a STATSPACK-report or a report from "Oracle Expert" if you have this module.

You'll get a good view on your waits and bottlenecks.

    Hi

How to determine is the CPU usage is more than 90%?

I do not have Oracle Expert, so any ways to check on the waits to determine the bottleneck please?
