    junior dba job assignments

    Hi friends,

In your current set-up of DBA Admin group/unit, How do you
divide dba jobs? Say if you have two dba's (one is junior and
the other is senior), what would be the appropriate dba tasks
to be given to the junior dba? and to the senior one?

    Thanks in advance

    DBA Roles.....

    Well, lets see.....
    Junior DBA
    1...Fetches coffee and doughnuts
2...Completes ALL work except managerial paperwork.
3...MUST allow Senior DBA to take credit for anything that could be remotely considered worthy of financial advancement.

Sigh.....those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end.
I too remember when this place was coo.

Well as the junior in a 3 Oracle dba department I can tell you that here I do whatever menial tasks the seniors don't want to be bothered with. This frees them up to fry the bigger fish, so in a way I am their offensive line. I protect them from all the day to day BS.
However, I do have my own applications to support so I can not always be available.

Ideally the seniors should try to hand the Juniors work that will be a good learning experience for them and give them some insight to the other, more complex applications since one day they will be supporting them. It's good for everyone, including the company.
