    Question

    Hi experts,

I have a question regarding the datafiles resized.

I just resized my datafile, but i didn't realise that my harddisk is almost full, so after i resized , it become overlimit. So, In OS site i received an warning of the overlimitl. So I immedately resize datafile smaller , but after i changed, in OS site I still got the warning again. But i am sure that my harddisk is sufficent of harddisk space. And OS seems like didn't update the smaller size of the datafile, it's still showing the big size datafile. Why is that happened ?

Thanks for your expertise of assist

If your datafile has data at the extreme end of the datafile,
then resizing to a smaller size has no effect.

The only way out for you is to export your data and drop/recreate your tablespaces.

I had a similar problem when a datafile tried to autoextend itself beyond the capacity of the volume it resided on.

Unfortunately in my case it corrupted the database and I needed to restore.

The best you can probably do is either live with it (if it'll let you) - or perform some recovery if it's causing a problem. Maybe you can export the tablespace, drop and recreate.
