    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    Hi

    I am encountering ORA-03113 error while connecting database using SQL*PLUS.

    OS : AIX

    With oracle login, working fine, but when I use, one of the user login and then

    sqlplus xxxx/xxxx

    SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Tue Jan 13 13:39:03 2004

    (c) Copyright 2000 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

    ERROR:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    I verified ENV variables, they are fine.

    Please help.

    Check the alert log and any trace files on the server -- they mightgive you more info on the error(s) behind this.

    check whether the network or server machine went down.

    No errors found in alert.log / trace files. Any suggestions

    I can connect the DB through Oracle Unix login id and even I can connect from the client also, but not with other Unix login id's.

    How about client network logs/trace files?

    Yes I did. There are no logs available. But I enabled sql_trace, and got generated cli.trc file. I found ns main err code: 12583 . Any help?

    There's some information available on metalink for this .. search for 12583.

    One suggestion was ...
    Add the following parameter to the client and server SQLNET.ORA:

    DISABLE_OOB=ON

    I feel its got to do the .profile of that user.
    Check if the all the oracle environment variable are set to the correct.
