    For the TEMP tablespace, the advice I've usually followed is to use local management with uniform extent size of 1M.

    I did some experiments a whileago with almost-empty tables (like 2 rows) where the HWM was up around the 5-10Mb mark. The plan was to put a rather gratuitous index on the table to see if Oracle would recognize that ...

    i) The table had a HWM around 10Mb
    ii) The stats said there was only one row in the table
    iii) Therefore it would be faster to use an index to find the one row than to scan all those empty blocks.

    Never got the optimizer to do it without a hint though, which was disappointing.

    Well in case of DW systems it really aint matters, but small DBs with many tiny objects it does..
