startup fine, but v$recover_file has entries

i did a backup/restore. startup no problems. however, in the course of my application, i get some database errors. therefore, i went to check. and to my surprise, i find entries in V$recover_file.

i recovered them, put them online and all is fine.

but i am puzzled why there are entries in v$recover_file and startup is no problem.

    Hi,

what type of backup you had?between the file you recovered is that file locally managed?

Were those tablespaces OFFLINE when you shutted down your database before backup? Or have you maybe put some tablespace in OFFLINE mode after you restored and started your database? In both cases you shouldn't have any problems with starting the database and in both cases you would find entries in V$RECOVER_FILE.

i am sure that the tablespaces are not offline when i start the backup because i did a 1) shutdown immediate; 2) backup oracle.

any reasons for them to be offline?
