    Hi.

No expirey date has been announced to my knowledge. Oracle say they will give 6 months notice so you're OK for a while.

    [my opinion]
If you are ready to go then take the 8i exams then upgrade to 9i later. If you still have alot more work to do then I would ditch 8i and go straight to 9i.
    [/my opinion]

Knowledge of 8i will be a requirement for some time so nothing's wasted, but I'm now advising newbies to go straight to 9i.

Another thing to consider is the amount of work you are likely to do on each version. If most of your work is on 8i then doing this certification is a good idea. If most is on 9i then why spend time learning a technology you're not going to use?

    Cheers
