I give a damn about the certs!
I finally sat my first exam IZO-001 and passed by the barest of margins. Its not just about the certificate at the end of the process but rather the motivation needed and knowledge that is gained through the process for somebody who is not in the position to work in a live database environment. I think $1000 AUD is a small price to pay for a large pay increase should you break into this specialised area where growth is continually on the growth and human resources rather scarce compared to teh rest of the industry.
So dont bag the OCP certificate, especially when there is half the population doing their MCSE, MSCA and it aint worth using as toliet paper.
Anyways im happy and thats all that matters, and when looking in the IT job market in Australia i am happy to report that 1 in every 4 jobs on seek is ORACLE related.

I watch the OZ job market too (I do intend to go home eventually)... especially for DBA positions. 1 in 4 may be Oracle jobs, but Oracle DBA positions... hmmm, I'd say currently, on average, only about 5 new positions a day....Australia wide.
Not exaclty booming...
