    VTK-1000 in OEM

When I logged in to OEM with the initial username:sysman and passwordem_temp, and the Management Server name:abc
I received the following error message:

VTK-1000 Unable to connect to the management server abc. Please verify that you have entered the correct hostname and the status of the Oracle Management Server.

    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance.

First make sure the Oracle Management server is running on the server named abc. If your DNS was not set to respond to just abc, then try to qualify with the complete domain name. Make sure the Intelligent agent is also started on the listening node. Though this is irrelevent to your current problem just a thought.

I went to administrative tools, and click on services, and I have three services:

    OracleClientCache80
    OracleMTSRecoveryService and
    OracleOraHome92ClientCache

Did I miss out something along the way?

    Thanks.

    Just to verify:

I installed Oracle Enterprise Manager from the Oracle9i Client cd on my PC. I was able to use the stand-alone OEM, but not the Management Server.
    Thanks.

Looks like you don't have a Management Server here.
You have to install it separately.

I think it is not on Client CD, only on Server one. Run setup, you will get the choice between Database/Client/ManagementServer installation.

The CD I am using to install Oracle Enterprise Manager is Oracle9i Client Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2000/XP.
What do you mean "on Server one." Is there any other CDs?

Yes. There is a package of 3 CD's titled Oracle Server 9.2..... something like that.

If you don't have them, you can also download it from oracle.
