    replication on 24*7 DB

    Hey,

we use Oracle 8.1.7.3 on HPUX 11.00 ....want to replicate(basic) only 7 tables (25,000 rows, 10 million rows and 5 small tables) from 24*7
prod DB with 30 minutes interval.....lot of nightly batch jobs are running.....

    1) How can we go about it? Any precautions suggested?
    2) Is there any other best method apart from replication?
    3) Standby DB will help anyway?.....

    replication or read only snapshots?

are you *replicating* only one way?

look at snapshots with fast refresh option if that is dooable for you.

if you go with replication implement conflict resolution or you'll be sorry

if you are looking to copy data every 30 minutes you have but three things to consider, network, network, and of course network.
