    tracing user processes

    while tracing user processess trace files are created these file names bear a number (process number) , which process does this number belong to, how to find out the process name or pid

    you look spid in v$process oke!

    and read some manual will you? or we are going to start charging

    v$process gives process id, what about the name of the process. further when i started the tracing it created many files , pid which were not there in v$process were also created.

    i will definitely take ur advice , please also advice me which one should i refer.

    now, a client session spawns a server process in the server side, for example if I run SQLPLUS from a dirty windows 95 machine I will spawn a process in the server, it is the server process which does the job not the client. You look server process PID in SPID column, v$process

    or join v$process and v$session to find which server process belongs which client process
