having trouble with registering the NODES for OEM

    Hi all,

I am trying to use OEM using Oracle MANAGEMENT SERVERS, everything went well and I got stuck when I go to Oracle Enterprise Console to register the nodes for some other instances which resided on different server and I have some problems with registering them:

when I discovering the nodes I got the errors:

Discovery failed: VD-4564 can not resolve host database_name

I can connect this database from SQLPLUS with no problem and I look into Metalink and it tell something to do with DNS server.

Has anyone had this problem before???

    thanhks

Do you have intelligent(DBSNMP) agents, data gatherers running at all nodes ?

If not make sure these agents are running before you discover nodes.

Check your OEM host can talk to DB hosts thru OS commands and DB commands to make sure communication exists between these two hosts and oracle networking is working.

'can not resolve host database_name' concern me that there are oracle networking
    conflicts.

    Sreddy,

    thanks for your response.

As I mentioned on my previous post, I was able to connect to the host database thourgh SQLPLUS. And I just did ping the host server using the host name or IPADDRESS, both work fine.

    any other thoughts????

Its very difficult to figure out these OEM errors which starts with V***. Did you look at metalink help on this

    yes I use tnsnames.ora

and I did look into metalink for this error and it talk about DNS server, I am currently working with the SYSTEM administrator but I am not sure the dnsserver is the problem.
