    Database Link alternatives

Whilst logged into database A, can you, without using a database link, look at data in a table on database b?

    Versions 817 and 920.

Its not that we have problem with the links, its just that we ahve a very large environment, some systems have been inherited and we have dozens of links hanging about, some are used, some aren't, and we want to the creation of new ones kept to a minimum.

Is there no other way, the documentation suggests not.

Sure, create a java stored procedure that connects via JDBC to your remote database.
