    1. any page faults?
    2. any alert/trace generated during service failure either in ORACLE alert log files or in WIN2k APPLICATION/SYSTEM logs?

Alert from win2k eventviewer may help...

    In the windows event viewer:
The OracleServiceVALCO service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.

Can you post what steps is the server following while shutting down... is it shutting down abruptly or normally ??

you can check this in alert.log file in the bdump directory...

also put the trace file thats is mentioned in the alert.log file...

look out for any error messages there...

If its not there then thats the problem...

    it should be there...

r u sure Oracle is installed

    where did you check ??

if its installed and you created the database the right way then it should be c:\ or d:\ or e:\oracle\admin\dbname\bdump

just see if the init.ora file exists or not ??

I dont have trace of errors(not no trace at all), the only trace i have is 6 or 8 startup in alertlog, and the trace files show the startup.

For the oracle side, it seem to be ok, no trace of errors what so ever, at each startup, there a recovery, since windows crash the service.
