    12560 TNS Protocol Adapter error?

    Is the SID (database name) you want set correctly?

    Are you logging on to the server itself, or remotely?
    If Remote can you Net-Op to the server and try to logon directly?

    Ok ppl..

    Problem is solved..

    The SID in registry of NT was set to the Developers DB..
    I changed it in the registry and the instance started without problems..

    One thing that i don't understand is why that value remained in the registry after the change of the environment variable of ORACLE_SID.

    Thats the SID (service) machine is registered by default and try to bring up that SID when machine is booted. If you set SID at command prompt it will set the SID on fly but, will not be changing the registry SID.
