    ISql*plus environment

    Dear Friends,

I want to use the isql*plus environment. The steps mentioned in the oracle students guide is
to - Enter the URL address of the iSQl*plus environment.
    What they mean by that?
Is that something like this http:///oracle/isqlplus.

    Please advise.

    Example:

If you host is called HOST1 and you web server is configured on port 7777 then you would access iSQLplus via the following

    http://HOST1:7777/isqlplus

Exactly as jim said, but to take you astep further you'd wanna.......

    Make sure that your
1.http web server is running(in services)
    2. go to C:\Oracle\ora92\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf
    3. open this(if not readable in a notepad)
check the Listen parameter that will give you the port number and then you can happily go to hhtp://computername: port/isqlplus
    Hope it helped.

    Talking

    Dear Friends,

Thank u very much. I have managed to get into that environment. Actually I used a port number 1545 found in the OEM connection information. But i was unable to connect.
Later I have found the Listen parameter number (7778) from the location C:\Oracle\ora92\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf. Now it is working fine.

Now I have one more question. While I check through the services I have found a service - Ora92ManagementServer - status -Stopped . I thought that is the server for the OEM, but I managed to connect to the server from my client machine. Is that Management server is not for the OEM? Could u please explain me that what is that for?

    Regards

Do you have another management server, or are you connecting as standalone when you start OEM?

If your management server is based on that host then that service should be started.

    Hi,

I have checked out the services running at the server. There is only one OracleOracle92ManagementServer running in my server machine. The startup type for this is Automatic and nothing is shown(empty)in the status column.

There are other services like CacheClient, HTTP Server, etc are running.

I could able to connect as a Superuser to the Oracle Management Server (not Standalone) both from the server itself and from my client machine.

And my client machine is not having any OracleOracle92ManagementServer, running.

I am still surprised, how am I able to connect to OEM. Please advise.

    Regards

By what you have explained it seems you have two ORACLE_HOMES installed on the machine. You are able to connect to OEM because you do have a valid management service started "OracleOracle92ManagementServer" the other service whould have been created for the other Oracle home.

No Jim, I have checked that, there only one oracle home is set. start-->programs -->oracle-ora92. Only this is available and I have only 2 dbs running in that.
    Why is it so?

When you installed Oracle on the host did it complete okay, or have you priviously tried and failed to install Oracle on the same host?

You can also look in the registry of the machine HK_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - ORACLE for some clues as to why you have 2 services. In any case I think it's a rouge service which can probaly be removed.
