Thread: SVRMGRL in 9i

    Hi dude's,

    There was something called SVRMGRL in release 8X of oracle, but its not there in 9i... :( what I can use to perform the same task i.e starting up the DB etc. in 9i. I think they have replaced the SVRMGRL with something else can anyone help me in this please.. and if possiable can give me the link of Oracle 9i documentation?

    sqlplus '/as sysdba'

    server manager is an obsolete tool, from Oracle 8i SQLPLUS can perform all functions performd by server manager so just use sqlplus

    maybe that was a bit short..

    all server manager functionality is now in sqlplus (was in 8i as well). Just connect as internal and you can do all that you could do in server manager

    I don't think that you can connect as internal in 9i. You have to connect as sys as sysdba for startup/shutdown.
