Help to load oracle client in all systems

Hi all,

We have one application in VB which uses oracle 7.3 as backup as server.
I all the systems which use this application we installed oracle client 7.3.
Now we are planning to move to Oracle 8.1.7 and we are changing our VB application.
But i have 100 client systems where we installed oracle7.3 client...
if we move oracle 8

1)Should i have to load oracle8.1.7 client in those 100 systems?
If not to work properly what i have to do?

2)I have old database dump, now i want all the steps and procedures
to change the old server oracle 7.3 to oracle 8.1.7?

3)If there are any steps to change my oracle what are the other steps to be followed?

You did not mentioned what type of application.If it is client server application upgrade odbc and net work connectvity .

if we upgrade odbc and net work connectivity...
there is no need to install oracle client in all my
systems....
