Applying Oracle Patche 3 on 8.1.7.0

Hi all ,

i am about to apply upgrade patch on 8.1.7 to 8.1.7.3
do i need to take any precautions or steps to be followed while executing this patch .

operating system Sun Solaris 8
sun cluster version 3

You might want to consider going to 8.1.7.4.

Take a backup of the data and all the software. It makes it easier to repair everything if it goes wrong.

Hi,

There are some one-off patches which can only apply on 8.1.7.3

In my case, I have 8.1.7 database, I need to apply patch to 8.1.7.3, then apply two one-off patches , then apply patch to 8.1.7.4

thanks , temporarily we have postponed applying patch at the moment , as the application's libraries which we are using might be accessing oracle libraries and we may need to rebuild application server part again ,
also i heard 8.1.7.3 is more stable . i don't know about this . what is ur idea ?
