Thread: why this error? can someone tell me pls.

    invalid staging area

    when i am going to install oracle personal edition 8i in ma computer i am getting this error> "invalid staging area." why this?
    what is staging area?

    I had the same problem,
    It has something to do with Java (Since the installer uses Java).
    What I did was reinstall the JDK and it worked.

    Hi,



    Personal Edition 8i is not supported on Windows 95. There are Personal Editions for NT and Windows 98 only.

    If you have to use Windows 95, you will have to install Personal Edition 8.0.4.

    Check if your platform is one of these, It does not support ME also.

    Whenever you get an error such as a staging area
    Its reflecting the uncompatibility of the cd software with the operating system.
    Check the install doc on the cd to see if the platform
    you are installing on is listed.
    OCP DBA 7.3,8,8i,9i

    Hi Alauddin,

    None of Oracle version are certified for Windows ME

    Try Upgrading your OS to Windows XP or Windows 2000
